From a friend's facebook post. I know stuff like this usually comes down to the valet service having to foot the bill on repairs, but this was a bonehead move by the Valet.
Magnolia Hotel - Downtown Omaha -
.
A few weeks ago my friend asked me for a recommendation on a nice steak house and hotel to visit for a weekend in Omaha. I made the mistake of suggesting he stay at this hotel based on friends past experiences. While the hotel itself may be great, the valet staff is NOT. As you can see they have no respect for high end vehicles, and to date have not made a move to make this right. Along with the obvious rear valence being "beached" on top of the parking stop, there was additional damage found on the BRAND NEW GT-R and they are pushing back on fixing the damage.
While I can't really do much to make things right on my mistaken recommendation, I at least wanted to make this known within my group of friends who frequently bring high end cars to Omaha to make them aware of their lack of respect of high end cars and doing the right thing in the event of mistakes/accidents like this.

this is a more valid reason than demuro's whining about the valet breaking his stupid ferrari keychain (and they may or may not have damaged his land rover but that's beside the point)

Is he upset about a scuff on the BOTTOM of the rear bumper cover?
Yes, I get its a new car, Yes I get that its an expensive car, that's not damage, that's accelerated wear and tear, if you don't think that the bottom of the car is going to get slightly scuffed by road debris you're loony toons.
If i were the Valet owner I'd offer him a detailing job certificate and bottle of touch up paint.

Unless you are rich enough to not care about your car/valet damage, Just don't do it. This is going to sound pretentious, but i won't even let my local high-end car detailer wash my Miata. Because its a black car, and I've no idea what mud guards the cloth used to wash my fenders had wiped down beforehand.
I also understand that if you live in a massive metro area, and also want to go out for steak, valet may be necessary. But I'll find a way to not use it.

It may just be the principle of being careful rather than the damage done, but I agree with you.

Listen if you get a new car or finish restoring your car, you might as well put a ding in it yourself or a scratch, that you're the one who takes it's cherry. Cars, in the wild are going to get scuffed. That's life.

Nope, don't sound pretentious to me either. I'm very very selective about who gets behind the wheel of my car. If I'm at a shop, I watch them. I do my own work for the most part outside of alignment and exhaust work.
I prefer to wash my car on my own, but the paint is so far gone from spending half its life in the Texas sun and 100K miles of highway driving that the clear coat is almost all gone (repaint after the turbo build is done) so I'm not above taking it through the auto-wash.
I'm far from having the money to go to a place that requires a valet, let alone being able to buy a pristine GT-R. Just felt like it deserved a share.

The only time I Valet'd a car was when I rented a Shelby GT-H in Las Vegas NV in '08, it was fun not having to deal with the parking garage and getting into it with the top down.
